If there is one thing I have learned on my journey of managing my energy as if it’s my most strategic asset, it’s that the first step is in simply taking the time to reflect and notice our patterns.
Awareness is power. When we pair reflection with gentle curiosity, we begin to see what fuels us, what drains us, and where our energy naturally flows. And when we empower ourselves with that data and self-knowledge, we finally stand in a position to make real, meaningful change.
On my journey, I initially took action in a fairly unstructured way. It started simply with freestyle journaling.
Journaling alone can be an extremely powerful way to bring that awareness and attention – though an unstructured approach can also make it a little more complex to help anchor us to immediate, actionable changes we can make.

That’s why I’ve crafted the Energy Audit Free Workbook.
After a solid year of unstructured journaling I realised I needed something to help hit the “reset” button on my energy.
The truth is, mastering our energy is not something we can simply do once. Us humans change and evolve! Our environment changes. We get new jobs, are hit with health struggles, get new hobbies… life ebbs and flows!
My journaling practice has helped immensely however I noticed that there were a few questions I would ask myself that really helped bring structured data and knowledge to what I was observing and noticing in myself – which then allowed me to make actionable change in my daily routines, running little energy experiments.
So with that, I decided to codify the journaling that truly helped me into a more structured workbook for others to follow.
This workbook is not just a “one and done” but something you can come back to as often as you like. You may find (as I did) it interesting to observe what seems to “stick” and what changes for you – that’s useful data too!
So let’s get into the exercises.
The Energy Audit Free Workbook includes five simple exercises.
- Your Energy Inventory: take inventory and gain a birds-eye view of your current energy levels across all areas of life.
- Map Your Flow: identify what expands and sustains you (filing your tank) versus what is a total energy drain.
- Your Energy Leaks: Helps bring structured awareness to the daily habits you engage in and how your choices fill or drain you. Consider using two colours to plot “drains” verses “fills”.
- Your Energy Experiments: Work through what small experiments you will try to see how your energy changes. Maybe you try waking up 30 minutes earlier each day, reduce your coffee intake or finish the day with a 20min walk. Plot experiments you will try noting that there is no pressure to “reach a goal” but merely observe and reflect on how your energy changes.
- Your Ideal Day in Flow: As you start to observe your energy shifts, use this page to design a daily rhythm that feels grounded, intentional, and alive.
I hope you find as much insight from these exercises as I have!

If you try it, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
